AP Calculus AB Chapter 7 Test Topics Spring 2018
Note: The Chapter 7 test will be a non‑calculator test.
The following topics are by no means a conclusive list and may even be redundant and are not in any particular order. Anything we have covered so far this year could be tested, so be sure you study and review topics you are weak in.

The following topics are by no means a conclusive list and may even be redundant and are not in any particular order. Anything we have covered so far this year could be tested, so be sure you study and review topics you are weak in.
- Know your rules for Antiderivatives, especially the power rule, the basic trig functions, and 1/x. Review antidifferentiation by substitution (U‑Sub) as well as integral properties.
- Review limits, as x approaches some constant or infinity, and how to find horizontal asymptotes.
- Know how to solve a piecewise function in order for the function to be continuous.
- Review the rules for derivatives, particularly trig functions and inverse trig functions. Then review implicit differentiation.
- Know how to find relative extrema, relative/local maximums and minimums, and absolute maximums and minimums, given a function and/or a graph.
- Remember how to use the Trapezoidal Rule with a given area.
- Given a velocity function, you should be able to find a particle’s position.
- You will need to find the slope of a tangent from a given function, and the tangent line for some given value for x.
- You need to be able to recognize the two definitions of the derivative and how to apply L’Hospital’s Rule.
- Give the derivative of a function, you should be able to solve for the function given an initial condition.
- You will need to determine a function from a slope field.
- Review concavity
- Given the derivative of a function, you should be able to determine the graph of the function.
- You should be able to set up and solve a related rates problem.
- Review Riemann Sums.
- Know how the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus can be used to find points given a derivative graph, and how to find maximum and minimum values.
- Know how to solve a differential equation with and initial condition.
